Postcard to Mrs. R.B. Layton, Kentville, Nova Scotia, from Edinburgh, Scotland.
There is still part of the original 14th century cross built into the shaft of the existing 1885 Mercat Cross which stands to this day. It was the central meeting place where Royal proclamations and other official announcements were read.

We have had a very lovely visit over here and have found this City so interesting. Yesterday were through the "Castle," St. Giles Cathedral, John Knox's house and Holyrood Palace and then drove to the Forth Bridge. Hope you are all well. Kindest regards from us both.
