Description:
Birds-eye view, from the south, of the Brant House summer resort hotel, its outbuildings and grounds. Guests enjoying recreational activities: boats, swings, croquet and horse-drawn carriages. In the right foreground, an engine of the Hamilton & Northwestern Railway Line, and in the middle distance, a train running west on the Grand Trunk Railway Line.
Notes:
The Joseph Brant house was purchased in 1875 from his grandson Simcoe Kerr by J. Morris of Hamilton, who converted the property into a summer resort. By 1880, it was owned by the McKillop Brothers. It was rebuilt by A. B. Coleman in 1892.
