Trafalgar Memorial Park Historical Panels, Lot 15 Con 1 SDS Trafalgar

This shows one of the historical panels now in the Memorial Park in Oakville which also has the Trafalgar War Memorial at 120 Oak Park Boulevard. The large photograph is an aerial photograph of Lot 15, Con. 1 SDS Trafalgar Township. This land, as the panel explains, was originally granted to Daniel Munn in 1808. A bit of the Munn family story is told on the panel, which explains that the land became known as the Fleming family farm after Millie Munn, daughter of King Henry and Ann Munn married R. Alexander Fleming. The land was purchased in the 1940s by the Hays family. Smaller images show the 1877 location of the lot in Trafalgar Township, a sketch of the K.H. Munn house. an aerial view of the farm when owned by the Hays family taken in the 1990s, and a 1939 photo of family and neighbours building a barn for the Flemings. Click on the link to the TTHS digital record for the same barn raising photograph as some of the men in the photo are identified. To view this Town of Oakville historic memorial panel in a larger format, the original .pdf is also included in this record. After clicking on either "original .pdf" or "page 1", give the larger, higher resolution .pdf a few extra seconds to open. Thank you to C. Van Sligtenhorst, Town of Oakville, Heritage Planner, District East/Central Planning Services, for allowing the series of 4 images to be part of the Trafalgar Township Historical Society digital collection. Our intent is to make the information and images widely available for viewing and research retrieval.
